I am always amazed that such small matters like 500 EUR for electricity to heat up are discussed and it is even being considered to put the GU on alert... even though he actually has nothing to do with the fact that he doesn’t get heat pumps in the current situation... Even if it’s 1,000 EUR... the main thing is that progress is being made? I am anyway glad that these mobile heaters exist and that I don’t have to wait until March for the heating...

My sentiments exactly. The general contractor is not responsible at all for the supply bottleneck. The construction frustration is being projected onto the general contractor.

Well, it may be true that the GC is not responsible for that. But I think one can expect him to actively address it, and if the alternative heating system simply costs more and otherwise he exceeds the construction time, then I believe that is also somewhat his entrepreneurial risk.

Of course, the general contractor bears the entrepreneurial risk. But it’s also a pretty stupid feeling when you order something and the delivery time says "Unknown" or "February 2024". For stuff that you still had within a few days two years ago and especially for stuff you need for penalized orders with a mid-2023 deadline.

Then you can quickly go bankrupt... and the client is left empty-handed...

Of course, many people simply ordered the stuff too late. There was no reason to order my roof tiles only in March; the building permit was already available in December. I don't even want to know when my heat pump or the photovoltaics were ordered.

Easier said than done. You need storage space, you need the capital to pay in advance for everything for weeks and months. The supplier wants the money when the material is delivered, not only after the roofer has installed the stuff and you pay it 3 weeks later...
