So the basic prices seem to be incredibly different. For us, the basic price for the heat pump tariff would also be just under €70 per year. For the regular tariff, just under €190, but only a 4 cent difference in the consumption price. We will not install a second meter for now, because that would mean a larger meter cabinet and that, in turn, would require a new door to the basement due to space reasons at the location of the meter cabinet. So that would be significant costs overall. It only pays off at best if we eventually also have an electric car, which could then be charged using the heat pump tariff.

In connection with the purchase of an electric car, the consideration of a photovoltaic system will certainly come into play. At the latest then, the second meter will become unnecessary again.

Second meter for heat pump and additionally photovoltaics, then a cascade circuit is needed. Another reason why people often avoid the second meter.

No, not for us. We have a balcony power plant on the porch at the front door and it won't get any bigger in the foreseeable future, because our roof offers almost no meaningful photovoltaic areas and the only small area facing south has solar panels for hot water. There are hardly any useful spots on the balcony or on fences either. Here and there a single panel would still be possible, but nothing large-scale.

If the one-time costs of the second meter and the structural modification can be offset by the advantages of the low current tariff and environmental friendliness, this option sounds good. But whether a change is worthwhile, I would always have confirmed by an expert in such cases before encountering unwanted costs or disadvantages. If experienced experts are still being sought here:
