My opinion:

Why? It could already fail now.
Such a long narrow hallway has nothing that one could describe as positive or functional. On the contrary: you see the disadvantage here in black and white. No matter how big a stair window is – the hallway suffers from lighting. Especially on the ground floor. It creates no inviting atmosphere at all, nor can a family move around there.

Not really. A good design does not have these flaws.

It is only an average design of a house, which apparently cannot score due to copyright rights because of lack of uniqueness and special design elements.

A better design that brings light into all rooms as well as a hallway width that can also spread light.

Dear ypg, I appreciate your posts and activity here in the forum very much and am also an eager, silent reader. Still: Don’t you think it is somewhat presumptuous to shoot against the architect in a thread in the window forum without knowledge of the floor plan?

What speaks against an electric drive? A section in the area of the staircase can certainly help to evaluate this.

You are very satisfied with your architect. Why can't he answer such a simple question for you?

I suspect he will say that the window is easy to clean and ventilation is not necessary in a modern house.

No. It is not presumptuous, but rather a perfectly normal piece of advice.
I am not shooting against the architect. The architect designs 95% average houses, as can be seen, for example, from the elevations. And that is a good thing – nothing is being questioned there.
Only a work with creative achievement, where aesthetics play a higher role, is protected by copyright. Therefore, you can show the design here, which in this case is not a work.
However, this is about your daylighting. And what can be seen is to be criticized from a neutral perspective.

From my point of view, nothing at all. But then the window would have to be divided, as I see it. Specifically, this means a segment with motor control at the top and fixed glazing at the bottom?

, hanghaus2023:
In our specific case, as already mentioned, a roof window was planned in the original design with the idea of better illuminating the hallway on the upper floor and ultimately the ground floor. For this purpose, the ceiling between floors was to be interrupted, and the interruption on the attic adapted accordingly. It would have looked like the attached drawing. We then discarded this for practical reasons (cleaning, storage space in the attic). The issues of cleaning and ventilation have not yet been discussed with the architect in relation to fixed glazing. Hence my effort to look around in this forum for alternatives.

: Since we have agreed with the architect not to publish the preliminary design, we will not do so here in the forum. Legal aspects aside. As I said: The offer stands; if you want to take a look at it, I can gladly send you the draft. Unfortunately, I have no way to contact you privately through the forum (there is a posting limit for that).
