Regarding the original question: no, it does not look better if you mix two coverings.

We have completely tiled a pattern on the ground floor, including the hallway, open plan area, and toilet.

In addition, we laid out the chill area in front of the sofa with a large rug, which can also be washed.

So overall quite resilient and easy to maintain. And if you want to change the color or pattern, this can also be done quite easily with a new rug.

Hi, inspired by this topic, we have revived our internal discussion about the floor. We are now doing country house floorboards everywhere. For the entrance area, we are getting a large dirt-trapping mat (there are really stylish ones now), outside there will be a dirt-trapping box with a weatherproof scraping mat anyway. So, the wife won, but I get my big garage with a gable roof and "Men’s World". Cheers, Olli

Also look for recessed dirt-trapping mats, flush with the parquet in height. They look very elegant and are not a tripping hazard.

We have a small ready-made one from ACO at the entrance, but there are also companies that offer custom-made ones.

Hi, thanks for the info, I always thought they were only for outdoors. We'll take a closer look at them then. Regards, Olli

A standard frame on parquet would then be like in these examples:

Otherwise, check out Entrada, they also offer custom sizes.

I cannot confirm that. I also didn’t want vinyl in the living areas. But in the ancillary rooms, yes. It is low-maintenance and the feel is - to us - also okay. Nothing smells (and my wife has a very sensitive nose)! An interesting possibility to create a floor is called "Mineralico" by a paint manufacturer from Münster. At least if you like mineral floors. The design options are extremely diverse. However, the "fun" is not exactly inexpensive and the application is very elaborate. But in return, you get a seamless floor.
