Hello everyone,
I am currently planning a roof extension of a multi-family house to create a nice home there. Due to building regulations, part of the planned shed roof must be constructed in a post-and-beam structure made of glass. Background: the roof thickness in this area may only be 20 cm, so there remains enough clear room height given the maximum building height. This glass roof will then transition into the glass facade, like a conservatory. It is large-scale, certainly spanning the entire room width and about 2 meters deep.
The construction spans an entire side of the building, beneath which are all three bedrooms. Now I wonder whether a soundproof, heavy triple-glass configuration made of laminated safety glass (VSG) and tempered glass (TVG) is sufficient to reduce the sound of rain enough to be able to sleep there.
I know that loudness and the sound of rain are perceived as disturbing to varying degrees subjectively. Perhaps there are nevertheless opinions, experiences, or even real observations about this.
Thank you all!
