The noise level of the outdoor units has already led to disputes in the neighborhood more than once. One unit had to be relocated after a winter, once to the opposite side of the property, far away from the original installation site. Two neighbors no longer speak to each other. The sounds of the outdoor unit can still be heard two houses away, despite the installation of a new silencer. These are my observations and the experiences of the neighbors.

Hi EveundGErd can you possibly name the types of devices? We also have a few heat pumps here in the neighborhood. Some are absolutely quiet and run very slowly, others spin quite fast. I am addressing those who have those kinds of things. Best regards, Mirko

I can also join the conversation on the topic of volume. Our neighbors have a Novelan heat pump. The outdoor unit is about 6m away from one of our kitchen windows. Even if the window is tilted open, you do not perceive the noise. The system is extremely quiet (whether it is also extremely expensive, I cannot say) – the fan of my plasma TV (when the sound is off) is almost as loud.

My builder confirmed upon inquiry that the heat pump he chose (Rotex HPSU Compact) will comply with the noise regulations at the property boundary. (House under construction). I would have liked to be on the safe side, but that would have involved an additional cost for a different heat pump.

The gas condensing boiler I actually preferred was ruled out for cost reasons (investment costs slightly higher than the air-water heat pump option) and maybe (!) also because the builder was not interested in it.

This is the first time I am reading something like this. The developer does not decide. Our general contractor prefers to install brine-to-water heat pumps and KFW55 houses. Nevertheless, we got the gas boiler of our choice instead of his standard boiler. Without extra charge and without much discussion. After all, I am the one paying!
