By "step" I meant the price difference, which is another €1500 more than the €2500 that the 404 is from the 504. The 504 will probably consume less but probably won't make up for the €2500 difference. I would definitely pay for the noise level. But then another €1500 like in your case probably not.

With the BAFA, I only see the 504 for the innovation subsidy (only that is possible with new construction).

I only find this list here for innovation funding and 304 is included there as well.

Only heat pumps listed on the Bafa list are subsidized, but not every heat pump on the list is eligible for funding (only an annual performance factor of 4.5 and higher is subsidized)...

A perhaps silly question. Can only the THZ504 be connected to a photovoltaic system, or can any power guzzler (including a THZ304) be connected to a photovoltaic system?
