Hello,

I'll put it here, maybe it also belongs to the category "Haustechnik"?

We had a garden gate made with a fixed knob (inside/outside).

Now we would like to retrofit the garden gate with an electric door opener (battery-powered).

When the doorbell rings (at the mailbox column next to the garden gate),
it should be possible to open the gate with a remote control.

Is such a retrofit possible?

Thank you very much!
R.

There are, for example, battery-powered drives with remote control from Hörmann. However, I would definitely recommend an additional solar module. Otherwise, you will have to run to charge the battery every few months.
It weighs about 8kg.
As far as I understood, you want to open the garage with the remote control when it rings?
That is doable.

Hello Rick,
thank you for your response.

No, we want to open the GARDEN-GATE / the GARDEN-DOOR (not the garage)
when the doorbell rings.

via radio standing at the front door.
And this thing installed on the latch would then have to be battery-powered at the garden door,
since there is no power connection.

No problem if it doesn’t work. We had planned it that way anyway
(without an automatic door opener on the garden door), because it simply doesn’t make sense to open the garden door with a door opener with 3 steps near the front door, and we don’t like such an automatic door opener/intercom system etc. in a single-family house.

But sometimes (actually not often) it would be ideal. Hence the idea and question whether it can be retrofitted.

Otherwise, we’ll solve it differently and make the latch movable on both sides.
So that the garden door can be moved in both directions (without a handle).
And if we sometimes don’t want that / want it locked, then we simply close the bolt.

Thank you very much!

In principle, it also works with garden doors/gates. It is then just a different type of power transmission. Presumably in your case a swing gate opener. e.g. Hörmann RotaMatic Akku Solar

Hello Rick, I just took a look at it from Hörmann ... I think we are talking past each other. It is a small garden-gate. When someone rings (outside the gate), I want to activate the trap (at the gate lock) via remote control and it buzzes. So that guests only have to press the gate and can go through.

Yes, I misunderstood you there. I thought you wanted to open a gate/door. You just want to unlock it. You need to look for locks with remote control/app.
