Good morning,

we have now been living in the house for the 5th year and of course there are still small things that need to be done, but they are not so bad that one always finds something "more important" to do.

Since we now want to paint the kitchen (we had almost the whole house painted white at first), I want to tackle the gap at the same time, also because you can't reach it for painting without dismantling the cabinet.
The gap between the kitchen cabinet and the wall was left intentionally because the sliding door slides into it when it is open.

It is about 4.5 cm between the sliding door and the kitchen cabinet.
The sliding door hangs on a guide at the top and at the bottom it only has a small guide at the reveal corner, so it swings a bit at the back when opened.
However, we actually use the sliding door very rarely (maybe 5 times a year).

What would you recommend? The only thing I can think of is some kind of brush strip, but that’s not very nice.
Maybe someone has another idea?

Best regards

What does the entire kitchen wall look like, so do the cabinets go all the way up to the ceiling? Please do a wide shot.

Hello,

I would not recommend a bristle or brush strip with "long" bristles here. That looks very unsightly after a short time when dust and hair get trapped in it. I would simply screw on a white painted or coated piece of wood from the cabinet on the left (inside the cabinet).

For the door leaf, allow a safety clearance of 10-15mm so that the door can still swing. As damping, possibly provide something on the side of the wooden board so that glass does not hit the wood.

Sorry for the late reply.

No, they don't go up to the ceiling:

yes, I have thought about something like that too. Kind of like the kitchen baseboards with a rubber lip.

Everything only makes the situation worse. Leave it like that.

And then just leave the area white?
