Continuation:
look closely, the cutting or the planning of the roof truss was done for a steeper roof, you can see that on the clamps, the angle does not match the purlins. It was built with too shallow an angle, causing the foot purlins to slide apart and no longer fit on the exterior walls, so they made a quick decision and pushed the purlin on the left inward with the known result.

Oops, you are completely right! This is no mistake but a deliberate cover-up attempt of an obviously wrongly planned roof. That is really brazen.

this is botched work combined with outright fraud. I don’t want to stir you up, but I would take quite tough action against it (expert appraisal, evidence preservation, setting deadlines, refusing acceptance/payment, dismantling, etc.). Not necessarily to enforce it, but a) to be prepared for all eventualities, and b) to put the general contractor in their place. He is obviously untrustworthy – who knows what else he has messed up.

Uh yes, but then please make the possible consequences clear in advance: the GU could drop the pen from now on

what do you do then?

Now it certainly also depends on whether it's the carpentry company from the neighboring town and the boss was on vacation and is now giving his journeymen a severe talking-to, or if the entire carpentry company works like this.

Unfortunately, one has to assume the latter here ☹️

Good that one notices that only after the roof is finished? You can already see from the top 2 bricks that it is offset?

I also don’t know how it could have gone unnoticed. Or rather, I have a suspicion..... The original plan was to remove the old roof, build up the knee wall, and put the new roof with the two (offset) dormers on top. But that was not possible due to the weather; it rained almost every day. So they first removed half of the roof, built up the knee wall there, poured the ring beam.... then the same with the second half.... then the gable side was built up..... The roofers worked the whole time under tarps, and the plans were apparently not clear either (statement from the contractor). When missing supervision adds to these circumstances, it can probably be relatively easy for such a mess to occur. At least that is our assessment and fear. We will definitely have the roof checked by an expert. We need to know if the shift is structurally sound and if the rest of the roofing work is OK or also defective........ Unfortunately, we no longer have any trust.
