Hello everyone!

We are building a 2-story house with a gable roof with a 25-degree pitch:

Plans: Architect (Ingelheim)

Would you leave the gable completely open? That would result in a room height of 4.18 m in the middle of the house up to the underside of the ridge beam.

Or would you install a ceiling? If yes, at what height?

Do you perhaps have a similar attic yourself and can share your experiences?

Best regards

How wide is your bedroom? How many cm do you have on the left and right of the bed? Is that possible without any problems or does it complicate the connections of the room ceilings?

I would install a ceiling. I have seen the open gable in a few houses and I never liked it. I find that the rooms always look smaller with the open gable than with a normal ceiling, because in the room you only have a sloping roof. In addition, I imagine it is interesting with the ceiling lighting.

We have about 190cm knee wall, 20 degrees DN and thus - if I remember correctly - 370cm below the ridge. I would do it the same way again (if a flat roof is not possible anyway ). In the bathroom, we have swivel spots and in the other rooms hanging lamps. No problem at all. You can always lower it later if you don’t like it anymore.

Let's see, the topping-out ceremony is coming up soon, so you can already get a feel for it. But if anyone else has photos of similar conditions ([roof pitch 20-30 degrees, knee wall around 200 cm]) I would be grateful for photos.
