Anything is possible, from "dark due to little light and dark wooden beams" to "friendly children's room thanks to a large roof window and light wall color."

We definitely plan to have a loft bed installed in the children's rooms. For that, we have already planned power outlets at the appropriate height so that phones, etc. can be plugged in.

With the high ceilings, this naturally makes sense. We have planned two double windows in each room, whitewashed wooden ceilings, and oak floors. This should prevent the rooms from becoming dark and uninviting.

The architect says that exactly 1/8 of the floor area counts as windows there, since the room height probably doesn't affect the light.

But you are interested in the converted attic WITHOUT knee walls. What is the roof pitch? It is best if you draw a cross-section. Should the rooms be on the gable side or the ridge side? Somehow I have the image of a wigwam in my head.

The roof pitch is 25°, the children's rooms are located on the ridge side facing south. The children's rooms are 13, 13, and 16 m² in size. Ultimately, a room height of about 1.5 m is achieved at the highest point.

Here is the section:

I now see a knee wall, namely a 2-story one. Well, you have to be careful that it doesn't feel uncomfortable when the room is taller than it is wide - it can become like a tube. There are some here who have that. Also shown here with a photo. I didn't like it, but the builder did. Unfortunately, I don't remember who it was. I also had it in the old house: gable divided for 2 children's rooms - that didn't have a good spatial feeling. One large room benefited from it again.
