Why should the furniture store pay anything if you buy a sofa that cannot be brought into the room?

NA because I buy with delivery up to the apartment and if the furniture store can't deliver up to the apartment then the purchase contract doesn't come about? I also wouldn't pay for the sofa if they couldn't get it on the truck :P

No, because that would be an incalculable risk for the furniture store and simply unreasonable. That is also why there are reactions here to your question, as it is completely unrealistic.

Dimensions of the furniture pieces and your own truck are known, the dimensions of your house are not.

As a rule, the delivery is aborted if the supply to the setup location is not possible. They will certainly try to place the furniture in a dry place, for example on the same floor. If that is also not possible (front door too narrow) I hope for you that you have an empty garage. In an extreme case, the sofa would stand on the driveway or "curbside." For a coin drop, they would certainly take it back for storage.

When I bought my last sofa, the furniture store offered me a free measurement because I had the free customer card. The man came by, measured some points that I probably wouldn't have paid attention to myself, and confirmed that it fits. It was tight, but it worked. Doesn't the furniture store offer that?

most furniture is made in such a way that it fits through standard doors. spiral staircases or tight curves behind doors can be problematic, otherwise you can easily get any piece inside that does not exceed the external dimensions of 2x1x1 m. (upright)
