Hi,
we need to decide soon on a flooring for the garage, so I would like to have your assessments.
Option 1: Smoothed concrete.
+ included in the tender
+ robust
- slippery when wet

Option 2: Tiles
+ easy to keep clean
+ design possibilities
- expensive
- slippery when wet
- sensitive to falling objects

Option 3: Screed
+ would alternatively make the Bu cost-neutral
+ unproblematic when wet
- always dust under the shoes
- stains from many liquids

What would be your choice?

Regards,
Frank

Hi,
we used smoothed concrete. Alternatively, paving would have been possible. More and more people seem to do that, since water can escape downwards.

Whether I tile the garage, I will decide later.

Cheers, torsan

Should there only be a car parked there or do you have other plans for its use? Spontaneously, I would say: concrete.

I would remove the downside "slippery when wet" for all variants. As long as no moss grows on it or it is not polished, the concrete will not be slippery, and tiles come in all slip resistance classes. And the proper tiles are not sensitive either. I would make that dependent on budget and type of use. Just to park a car and some sports equipment, tiles would be too expensive for me.

Hello,

we also left it as concrete - but it is definitely not smooth when wet.

Two more alternatives would be:

- Pebble coating - very elegant but also quite expensive

- Industrial floor (synthetic resin) - easy to maintain, very grippy with sand in it

Regards,

Dirk

It will be smoothed concrete - thanks for the opinions! If I ever don't like the surface anymore, I can always stick PVC etc. on it - or just tiles. By the way, no one wanted to have anything to do with a floor drain because of possibly accumulating water - seems to be forbidden...
