I wouldn’t have any concerns about just leaving the concrete either. Possibly put "paint" on it.

I would definitely apply protection against salt there. Nothing worse than salt combined with concrete, you'll have holes in the ceiling within 5 years.

The front area will be paved, but it is only about 2 meters wide. I'm having some trouble with gravel; I don't like it. A concrete curb would probably be necessary on the side to encase everything and also to absorb the traffic load? The water has to go somewhere, after all.

Unfortunately, it cannot just be left as is. Water-resistant concrete is unfortunately not completely waterproof. In some areas, the top layer is already breaking off due to tire stress and probably the applied de-icing salt.
