Hello everyone,

I am an avid reader of this forum and have already incorporated some of your ideas into our planning.

We are slowly approaching the home stretch (building application) and still have a few question marks or are not quite sure about some decisions.

Could you perhaps support us once again?

Here are the questions...

Is a roof pitch of 25° sensible if we can achieve a knee wall height of 2 m as a result? Does a flatter roof also have disadvantages?
Should we also plan knee wall windows on the south side?
Do you see any other need for optimization?

Thank you very much for your feedback!

From the previous thread:

And these things immediately caught my attention again.
Due to the higher knee wall, I would probably give one of the children's rooms a south-facing window.

Why do people attach the stainless steel chimney to the house wall in a new building?

Because this is, firstly, significantly cheaper than an interior, masonry chimney and, secondly, some also find it very visually appealing.

Hello kbt09,
we discussed your comments with our architect. The chimney should, if possible, be positioned in the area of the highest ridge. That seemed plausible to me. But your version and your arguments also sound convincing, although the chimney would then be right in the passageway between the house and the garage.

We somehow like the stainless steel chimney better. At least at the moment.

We had the window in the office changed (lower sill), it just hasn’t been reflected in the plans yet.

From your point of view, what is the advantage of turning the toilet in the bathroom by 90°?

Do you also have the feeling that the window arrangement in the west is a bit restless? Would a larger window in the bay window make more sense?
