Floor plan single-family house, 200m2, 2 full floors, garage, without basement

We will probably only have 110 cm distance, unfortunately, because otherwise the peninsula would jut into the window a bit. Which the lady of the house does not want. We tried to recreate the situation with the Styrodur packages lying around and I'm not so thrilled about how cramped the space looks because of it. But we only cook together on weekends, so Madame has the final say. I really wish we had more freedom in our kitchen planning, but you have to be thankful just to be able to buy a house at all.

We have also been dealing with the topic of islands in the past few weeks. For us, the question was whether 100 cm or 120 cm. In all kitchen studios, everyone agreed that 120 is rather too wide if you don't always work from both sides.
Therefore, I would also make the island a bit narrower. 120 cm is just about good enough to comfortably reach things in the middle of the work surface. At 140 cm, you really can't work comfortably, so the extra width doesn't provide any real added value. For the length, you have more than enough space to cook two Perfect Dinners at the same time. ;)

120 is really huge. We had an island in the old house with a depth of 120, and here’s a photo of the installation, so you get an idea of how big this work surface is. It’s really enormous, and I definitely wouldn’t go any deeper. You really can’t reach the middle well anymore.
