We had the topic of the island on the table in the past weeks as well. For us, the question was whether 100 cm or 120 cm. In all kitchen studios, everyone agreed that 120 is rather too wide if you do not always work from both sides. I would therefore make the island a bit narrower. 120 cm is just still good enough to easily reach things in the middle of the work surface. At 140 cm, you really cannot work comfortably, so the extra width does not provide any real added value. For the length, you have more than enough space to cook two Perfect Dinners simultaneously. ;)

Oh thanks to you, then we will probably change that as well. Definitely makes sense. Did they also say anything about the "best" distance between the island and the worktop behind it? Basically, the walkway in between.

Yes, that was also a topic. :) At least 120 cm if two people work a lot together. 130 cm is better, but not more than 150 cm because of ergonomics. And for the sink or cooktop planning, ideally, there should be at least 40 cm distance to the edge.

We will probably only have 110 cm of space, unfortunately, because otherwise the peninsula would protrude into the window, which the homeowner does not want. We tried to recreate the situation with the Styrofoam packages lying around, and I am not very thrilled about how cramped the space feels because of it. But we only cook as a couple on weekends, so Madame has the final say. I just wish we were freer in our kitchen planning, but you have to be grateful to be able to buy a house at all.

hm I thought until now that it would be easily enough. A pull-out pantry cabinet has a lot of space. We are 4 people in the household and not “stockpilers.” So basically, we prefer to shop fresh once a week. yes exactly, opposite the stove on the left comes the sink! but the rest is not yet defined. We will tackle the kitchen planning as soon as possible anyway. A built-in high dishwasher is very important to me and it will probably be on the window side left of the sink and not on the tall cabinets side. But we’ll leave that to the professional. I have a pantry now and I don’t see the advantage. It only means two storage places and I have to check twice what is still there. I prefer to have everything in one view. But everyone has a different opinion and that’s good so. how big is your kitchen and pantry? Do you have a layout/floor plan that you would like to show? Thanks for your thoughts
