I think the fireplace position is good. However, every time I look at the plan, I am actually annoyed by that strange wall that goes through the staircase/storage room. What on earth was the architect thinking there?

True! Although there aren't that many pieces of furniture in the living room anymore (books are gradually digital, and no one really plays games anymore?!), somehow it also doesn’t work without them. You always have something. At least it’s suitable for Wii ;)
Besides, I see the expensive sliding door in the dining area. There is the possibility of placing a sideboard, but that might then make the space there narrower. You should check this regarding the possibility of placement: a small sideboard for napkins, tea lights, tablecloths, etc., storage for cell phones, laptop, magazines, and books...

Maybe the section makes it a bit clearer (see attachment). The architect's idea was to possibly accommodate shelving space there, partly with a cupboard door in front. The depth is 30-40 cm. Possibly some glasses, liquor bottles (we don’t have a big collection ;-) ), smaller books, decorations, etc. will be stored there. The exact layout is not yet concrete. Is this now more understandable, or do you still not like the idea? :-) Thank you!

I also took another look at the bathroom on the upper floor. I also advise against having 2 doors in the bathroom. That might still be convenient with small children, but: When the kids later have visitors (friends and later partners), you’re more likely to be annoyed by the solution. From puberty onwards, the bathroom will rarely be open when someone is inside. And to "get back" at the parents, the child might sometimes forget to unlock again. ;) Then you either have to go around, or worse, you think someone is in the bathroom and you wait in front of your own door for nothing :D The noise of locking and unlocking the parents’ door is also something I wouldn’t necessarily want when I’m trying to sleep, etc...

And as far as I know, sometimes you stand half-naked or naked in front of the mirror at the sink. I wouldn’t like a floor-to-ceiling window there at all, even if it faces the garden. You can tape it up, but a normal window beside it looks rather odd.

Just my two cents
