So I have now tried a different variant, thanks ypg Please note that this is only a rough draft and many things are still missing. It is just to see if this would be a sensible and expandable layout:
Ground floor
Upper floor:
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
But the real dealbreaker is actually the floor plan on the upper floor, which in my opinion just doesn’t work. Or what do you think about this variant?
Ground floor
Upper floor:
Advantages:
[*]Ground floor is nicely spacious
[*]Separate guest WC or pantry or both possible
[*]Sleeping area nicely secluded with separate bathroom
Disadvantages:
[*]Upper floor is totally fragmented, the layout is not harmonious at all. Also, we actually wanted two equally sized children's rooms
[*]Work/guest room in the basement (but that's not so bad)
[*]The path from the master bedroom to the kids is very long and you have to go around many corners. We currently have a 4-year-old daughter and one is still in mommy’s belly. A direct way to the little ones would be nicer. But probably you can't have both, a secluded bedroom + good access to the children
