Hello dear forum,

we plan to start building our house in 2018 and already have a first draft of our floor plan. We want an approximately 160sqm large house, single-story with a gable roof and a glazed gable front in the living area. The plot is 2000sqm in size.
There will be 4 people living in the house, both parents working full-time. The house is surrounded by fields on the north and west sides. To the south is a street and behind it also fields, only on the east side does it border a neighboring plot. For this reason, the orientation of the living room gable is towards the NW.

I look forward to constructive criticism and hope for possible suggestions for improvement, as we have very little experience so far.

Best regards

Hello, I don't quite understand how the multipurpose room is supposed to be furnished, it looks quite cramped to me..... Is a shower planned in the small WC? (I would definitely want to have 2 showers with 2 children)

I have attached a picture of the furnishings.

We deliberately decided against a second shower, which is why only space for one toilet has been planned.

Some things are a matter of taste. The fireplace in the middle of the room would not be my thing. The living room dining room kitchen area has, in my opinion, too much glass, too little wall space for placing cabinets. A second shower would be good. Think of 98 cm doors, in a bungalow you can live on one level until shortly before the nursing home, then wide doors are great because of the walker and so on.

Thank you for the previous answers and the tip about the doors, even though I don't want to think about it yet ;)

Is there anything else that might be a design nonsense or has been forgotten?

Regards
Markus

So: first of all, welcome to the house building forum. For an assessment, please read the post pinned by me in the subforum and fill out the questionnaire. Even more important are the site plan and north arrow, as well as your reasons why, for example, the bathroom is more like a ballroom, the bedroom a walk-through room, and the children should sleep in front of the visitor center. Why does the dressing room have no window, the kitchen face the couch, the cooking direction and the kitchen have no exit towards the terrace? Why is there no partition wall sufficient for the couch? Measurements would also be necessary to compare the sizes. The doors look too narrow to me, the windows too small. The fireplace is there, but the stove is missing. And where should the house’s technology be located? And are you aware that corners and edges as well as slanted walls eat a big hole in the budget? Best regards
