Sometimes, despite the ventilation system, one wants to throw open the windows, sometimes even clean them from the outside on the 1m first floor

I would be very cautious with the assumption that with a controlled residential ventilation system you no longer need casement windows - after all, humans are still very human

Whether you have one door or 12 doors does not matter to the burglar. The chances of a "successful" break-in are the same with one door as with 12 doors. Yes, of course you have to protect all doors equally. I am telling you, in the end it is a matter of money and has nothing to do with security.

It would be security if you did not have a single patio door, but instead glazed the entire ground floor completely. And who does that? Certainly no one. In and out only through the front door.

We once had a 3-meter fixed glazing on a balcony. The roller shutter on the inside didn’t look great after 20 years. Apart from that, we paid a surcharge for the glass insurance due to the size of the pane. Cleaning from the outside, as long as you are on the ground floor or can use a balcony, is not an issue. With a ladder, I already wish you lots of fun and therefore suggest hiring a window cleaner. Alternatively, you can do like a neighbor: frosted glass pane in the upper floor hallway as fixed glazing, cleaned from the outside within the last six years: once when moving in. When asked, the answer was: That’s why frosted glass.

Question to the group: Does triple glazing fog up on the outside for you in the morning, or does this only happen in renovation projects?

No, it fogs up for us too. However, I have also heard of glasses with special coating because of that. Unfortunately, we don’t have any.
