Hello,

here’s a topic that doesn’t have much to do with building at first...

Somehow we also caught the decoration craze before Christmas.

How have you decorated your "house" to get in the mood for (the first) Christmas in your own home?

Here are a few pictures of how it looks at our place now – we look forward to many beautiful pictures of your decoration ideas.

Our illuminated column

Our "tuned" coat rack

Our illuminated staircase

"Christmas vase" and "Christmas palm"

Our illuminated counter

Sorry, some of the pictures are a bit blurry – unfortunately I couldn’t upload them in the original size.

Best wishes & happy holidays,

Sandra & Dirk

I am really looking forward to the first Christmas, especially because this year we will finally have a Christmas tree again. In the last two years, we went without a tree because our old living room was a passageway and the tree was always in the way. For this year, we have already chosen one and bought some new decorations, because bigger tree = more decorations. But we will only pick up the tree shortly before Christmas Eve and put it up at noon.

On the street side of our house, we had sockets installed in the window recesses because I finally wanted Christmas lights. In the old house there was no space for that and not enough sockets, so this year I bought three new stars.

And this year we finally have an Advent wreath as well. Unfortunately, we didn’t have one in the old house either due to lack of space.

Yes, Christmas is really nice, especially when you can make up for everything you had to do without for years!

I will upload pictures in the next few days. We had plasterers here until Saturday to plaster the shower bathroom and the hallway on the ground floor as well as the staircase. Well glued is half plastered afterwards. Chaos still prevails. Sometimes I wonder where the chaos always comes from.

Hello Doc,

we obviously quite often share a similar opinion. But when it comes to the decoration madness, we do differ .
I can't stand so much fluff.

Still - for the love of my wife and to show my kids that Christmas is coming, I do allow some things (or have resigned myself to it).

Decorations at our place:
1. We have a lit star hanging in the terrace door, in two living room windows, and in the office.
2. In the kitchen, we have a wooden Schwibbogen as well as a wooden star with a snowman (also lit) hanging.
3. The bedroom got it this year too - a Schwibbogen adorns the window.
4. My wife knitted a sock Advent calendar for the kids. That means differently colored small socks which are filled. These sock calendars hang on the staircase railing.
5. On 4 uprights of the staircase, “felt boots” hang, which are filled for Nikolaus.
6. A homemade Advent calendar for the adults (we share the little bags).
7. In the lower hallway stands a long candle arrangement with electric candles. It is hardly ever turned on - but it stands there and catches dust.
8. The Christmas tree - 2.30 m tall and in the "Anna-Elsa-Style" (silver-blue) - Anyone who has little girls in the household knows what I mean. (this year still a real tree - next year an artificial one)

Our pyramid always hides somewhere. So far, we haven’t found a proper place for it here.
My wife actually wanted to make 1-2 door wreaths. Well - probably next year. Unfortunately, the materials have already been bought oops. Maybe the fir twigs can be used in the garden.
Additionally, my wife threatened to vandalize our fall protection (fence) above the L-stones with a string of lights. Presumably out of consideration for my mental state, she has refrained from doing so for now. I assume she keeps this possibility for next year.

Schwibbogen please. It has nothing to do with being tipsy.
