People used to do that too, there was no excavator for the garden back then. And you know what? I've been living in a Town & Country house for almost a year. With fixtures from Vigour, tiles for 30 EUR/m², with a pretty large kitchen from Pino. Admittedly, that one cost more than 10,000 EUR, but with a U-shape with counter, it was hardly possible to do otherwise. Sure, the garden is still a poppy meadow at the moment; I'm planting the hedge this weekend as 60-80cm balled plants. 45m for 1,300 EUR including delivery. For that, a landscape gardener wouldn't even plant 10m. Painting and flooring done myself, except for 60x60 tiles in kitchen and hallway. The only thing I’ve outsourced outside so far was the connection of the downpipes to the cistern. And the excavator botched that right away, one of the pipes is leaking. We’ve been arguing for months because he neither wants to open it nor put a camera in there...

P.S. I would also rather live in a nice rental apartment than with Town & Country without any perks. You can compare Town & Country (like the other low-cost providers) to social housing. You can live in it, but it can also be nicer.

I definitely see it differently. Apart from the fact that, in my opinion, having a garden provides an invaluable added value, it is also a great value in itself not to be exposed to landlords anymore and to know your home is secure. For that, I would even accept a new building with radiators on the wall and a shower in the bathtub ;).

Yet a reasonable house is probably only possible for the top 5%. Sad. Something is wrong here...
