If the dining area is to be moved into the kitchen, I would definitely remove the bend in the alignment of the side exterior wall.

The hybrid between a cross gable and a bay window might be a clever engineering idea, but architecturally it looks like a slightly pulled-out drawer. I would prefer to make a canopy and extend the facade already on the ground floor. This would provide more length for the long leg of the staircase and the short one can be shortened further. Now just mirror the door-stair sector, and the door will be centered.

what does that have to do with the age difference? I find it unfair to the children and they will feel that way too. In a rented apartment, you usually can't change that, but with a house you design yourself, it doesn't have to be like that.

I meant that siblings with a three-year age difference are not in the same developmental stage at the same time, can only partially compare themselves to each other, and also understand that they are at different "levels."

By the way, as an older brother with an age difference of one and a half years (also indirectly from other older brothers), I can report that it is extremely annoying when constant equal treatment with the younger one is practiced. That is not among the best childhood memories for either of them.

As long as the rooms fulfill their function and do not restrict anyone (16sqm vs. 8sqm), one can gladly refrain from imposing the "status symbol" of a children's room on the children right away. Anyone can have a nice room regardless of whether it is two square meters larger or smaller on the sheet.

You could give Child 1 a built-in wardrobe, the space for which is taken from Child 2 - that balances things out a bit. The remaining difference will hardly be noticed. Besides, the sayings work anyway: Hans is older than you, so he gets more allowance/is allowed to stay up later ... that will surely work with the room too :)

But you can't really compare it like that, because the small room does not get bigger over time, and therefore the younger child will always have the smaller room. Pocket money and bedtimes are adjusted in the meantime. There is a 6 sqm difference between the rooms, and the larger room also gets an extra window including a dormer.
