Feedback on heat pump / offer requested!

We have a Panasonic 5kW heat pump. Good and popular device for little money. Heating engineers almost never offer it. We bought it ourselves at our own risk and placed it next to the house in its place without any significant own effort.

Did you cover the heat pump? I’m also considering whether it should maybe be an LG heat pump, but the outdoor units look "not so great".

At our place, it stands behind the house. We are not bothered by the appearance there.

I will still cover it up when I find time. Purely as a precaution, despite relaxed neighbors. What you don’t see, you also don’t hear. If you have neighbors close by, I would definitely put up a privacy screen before setting it up.

Is your heat pump that loud? Ours is in front of the house and the neighbors opposite are a good 23 meters away...

No, it is not, the neighbors are also 20m away. It gets loud at full load, but that is rather rare and even then no problem for us. I would not want it in front of a terrace, partly because of the appearance. Nevertheless, it is better to prevent problems early, e.g. by [Sichtschutz].

How far is the heat pump from the house? Can you hear it inside the house? I believe the LG heat pump is rated at 60 decibels and would be placed quite close to the house with us... Now I have some concerns about whether it can be heard inside or if it is annoying.

No, nothing can be heard inside the house, never. She stands directly under two windows. During defrosting, you can hear the pump running stronger inside two rooms, but that’s all we notice inside. At full load in deep winter with >4kW, it also gets louder when standing outside in front of it. I avoid that at night. But in normal operation up to 3kW, it is whisper-quiet outside as well. I always run it in Silent Mode (Max approx. 3kW). As mentioned, Panasonic and not transferable to other manufacturers.
