What a modest design. Tight 45sqm for 6 people (excluding guests) for eating/living/cooking, but 40sqm of traffic space/air space – that is pure waste. How often do you welcome guests and linger in the hallway? How often do you stay in the kitchen/living/eating areas?

4 children have to share a tiny bathroom? Ok, at least they can greet their friends in the ground floor hallway and stand in line there until the bathroom is free.......

The furniture does not match the given measurements. 10-person dining table with a 50cm passage on both sides – nice squeezing. Mini-sized kitchen island (where the grease can nicely splatter all over the dining table) also with 50cm passage – none of this works. Garbage to the power of 3.

It is indeed a rarely bad floor plan. Into the bin and start over.

4 meters might be okay. but 2x 50cm passage to the kitchen?!!! And a kitchen island measuring 1 meter x 0.5? What is this nonsense?

How do you come up with that? 4.07 - 1.2 = 2.87 - 2*80cm = 1.27 m island. BEF, to see if I'm really that far off - as I said, I don’t find the floor plan that bad. Sure, open space is not necessary and the hall might be a bit too large (although 6 sqm of the 21 is already the wardrobe alone).

You write above "own planning," but then you talk about the architect or there are architect stamps visible now. Is the architect employed by the house building company or did he just copy your plans?

I find it – without meaning to offend you – somewhat "sad" that after more than 4 years you have only come up with such a thoughtless waste. Although some wishes are new, so hopefully the planning is not that old after all.

I don't think the draft is that bad for the desired requirements. I imagine the hallway when all 6 family members go on an outing or come back; until all the children have put on or taken off their shoes and jackets, I think one is glad when there is a bit of space.

I can't judge the following since I don't have children myself, but maybe I would plan the downstairs toilet as a shower room. No idea if all 6 people want or need to shower at the same time (birthday visit at grandma's, other celebrations), but I find that stressful with 2 showers/bathrooms. Unless you have 4 boys, then it's fine.

There is a small difference between a little bit of space and pure waste. I rather have the feeling that certain rooms were needed and now somehow there was space to distribute.

We were 7 people and had a rather small entrance area – strangely enough, that worked too. In our house, we deliberately made it large because with my parents it was really too small (about 12 sqm, just under 3.5m wide in the door area). But that is really a bit too heavy in terms of cost/performance...

Oh, by the way, we were 7 (5 women) and only had one main bathroom plus a guest toilet with a toilet – that worked very well too. Although later a bathroom was added in the basement...
