Hello everyone, we applied for the KFW 461 on 09.01.22 and it was approved. The payment will be made by 09.07.24 at the latest. However, the completion of the house construction will be delayed until August/September 24, which is why I sent a justified email requesting an extension of a further 12 months on 22.01.24 to 461@kfw.de. I have not received any confirmation so far. The approval period of 24 months would have already expired on 09.01.24. I hope that we are not too late with the request for extension. Can you assess this?

Thank you and best regards, Freddy

Yes, unfortunately too late as I assess it. You should have extended within the approval period - so before 01/09/24. Best regards

Definitely too late. You should have followed up earlier. Why didn’t you pay attention to it earlier if you have been involved for two years anyway?

I could imagine why... because the two years are only mentioned somewhere in the fine print, and instead only the final deadline after 30 months is published in the application itself. It was similar for me; even when I asked the developer and energy consultant, I got nothing but "we have until xyz," where xyz was the 30-month deadline. In my case, it was pure coincidence that I only found out exactly two days before the 24-month deadline expired – here from the forum.

I wouldn’t give up yet; instead, do it the way I did by sending a registered letter with a printout of the previously sent email as an attachment. The people at the KfW are currently massively overloaded, and you will be left in uncertainty for months. Most likely, the registered letter will be processed sooner than your email gets read. At least, the day after the postal receipt, I received a manually triggered confirmation of receipt, and four days later, the extension confirmation arrived.

What I honestly don’t quite understand is why you’re only extending by 12 months instead of the maximum possible 24? A lot of unforeseen things can still happen – but the chance to extend only comes once.

Page 1 of the commitment letter. Printed extra bold. No fine print – you simply can't overlook that.

Then here is my page 1 (and 2). That is the date after 30 months, the 24 months ended in November last year:
