Hello everyone,

the confirmation for the extension of the deadline just arrived:

Whether we have extended your deadline by 24 or 36 months depends on the currently valid guideline. That means: on when your original application for grant approval was received by us:

[*]Application received by 12/31/2021 à Your deadline was extended by 24 months.
[*]Application received from 01/01/2022 à Your deadline was extended by 36 months.

Please add the number of months! This is your new submission deadline, which we hereby confirm to you bindingly.

The processing took 11 weeks. So one has to be a bit patient.

Best regards, Freddy

There are always people (unfortunately, we are among them) who, in the stress of building a house, eventually lose track of the deadline and then are completely shocked when the money is gone. The KFW no longer allows extensions afterwards (KFW 461 grant variant). Once the payout deadline has passed, you're out of luck...

What really frustrates me about this (besides my own stupidity) is that the KFW provides no indication that the deadline is approaching. It wouldn’t be too much to ask for such sums that an automated email is sent out...?? Does anyone know if there is still any chance to have the extension approved after the deadline has passed? Or if there is any legal way to challenge the consumer-unfriendly behavior of the KFW?

Honestly? Anyone who, after 24 months and over 24 months of unbearable stress, is not even able to remember the grant deadline, has only themselves to blame. Sorry, but the stress can’t be that bad. And it can’t be that bad for you either if you simply forget tens of thousands of euros. It wouldn’t be too much to just set a reminder on your phone, stick a note somewhere, or implement a reminder function somehow. That cannot be KfW’s responsibility. I expect a bit of personal initiative.

Oh, and where is the consumer-unfriendly behavior? Does your employer remind you every evening that your workday is over? Or does your partner always fetch you from the bathroom because you forget to wipe your butt? Honestly, when I read a post like this, it makes my blood boil. You screw up, and everyone else is so mean to you.

Well, such comments had to come. Yes, that was the big mistake, not setting an appointment back then because the commitment came in a stressful time and one never thought at the time that the house construction would take 24 months or longer. And then it was out of focus... there were too many other issues. you obviously have never made a mistake that later had terrible consequences... In any case, I find your response somewhat below the belt.

Yes, but then I bit the bullet and didn’t blame others. And that’s exactly what you’re doing - messing it up and blaming the KfW.

That borders on KfW below the belt. YOU want something. Then YOU have to take care of it.

Sorry if you’re pissed off. But whining doesn’t help. And afterwards you absolutely won’t get anything from the KfW (says someone who also works professionally with the KfW).

Off Topic:

Some actually do. Then the computer logs off after 10 hours.
I have also sent my employees home if they were still there at 7 PM, even though they started at 8. And the lunch break was no longer than an hour. Employers have a duty of care.

On Topic: That really turned out badly. If I were you, I would just try anyway and provide very specific reasons why the application is late.
The chances are slim, but if you don’t try, you’ve already lost.
And of course, the KfW is not at fault.
