Uh no... or are you a compatriot? Then you wouldn’t give such an answer at all.

It was important to us that we ONLY have craftsmen from the region and no cheap labor from Poland etc. We communicated that directly and then had them exclusively. Small companies (one-man show roofer for example) up to larger companies. All very nice people who all spoke German as well. Very pleasant..and as a rule, they were also paid well (at least those with whom I talked about the wage).

I can only confirm that here as well, and of course I pay more for it than if they were Eastern European workers, clearly.

The only funny thing is when you build a Danwood house, nobody can speak German and instead of a site manager, you have an assistant site manager who also cannot speak German.
My tip:
get an interpreter (to rule out "I did not understand...")
Take a sworn building surveyor on board, take as many photos as possible. A good lawyer and be on site every minute from the erection of the house until completion.
Report defects immediately in writing and with photos and demand the defects be fixed.
Standard phrases; we are not finished yet, or you have a 5-year warranty....
How is one supposed to prove building defects after 5 years?

And after completion, you get a phone number to call if there is a problem.... Ha ha the number is then a company in Poland, if you’re lucky someone can speak German.....
My conclusion no thanks never again..

There are views here that are borderline. Anyone who has seen the old town of Gdańsk, which Poland even rebuilt under the conditions of socialism, wishes for Polish craftsmen on their construction site. Especially when it comes to laying brickwork, and in carpentry work, they are top-notch. K.
