It is a single-family house, built in the 70s, prefabricated timber frame construction, uninsulated. Approximately 150 m² of living space. Currently heated with oil. The residents want a new heating system and for whatever reasons, pellets. Since I have no experience with this at all (I only know the argument that it is expensive), I asked around what speaks for or against it.
Often the desire is ideological because of CO2 blah blah.
or ignorance. people think it is cheaper. here the ton costs from seven tons 260€ + 20€ for blowing in. From a price of 200€ per ton, wood briquettes are too expensive. A cubic meter of beech weighs about 550KG and costs roughly 110€ at the hardware store, sawn and split – so it would still be cheaper than pellets. The FM softwood firewood is about 20€.
an Excel sheet helps, in which oil, pellets, and firewood are compared.
against the first. hmm. I quickly googled the CO2 footprint of pellets, but all you find is advertising about how great pellets are.
