Hello everyone,

we are currently thinking about how to design our entrance area and are discussing the size and design of a recessed doormat.

How have you solved that? Does anyone even have that or do you just have a mat with a receiver in front of the door?
Pictures would be nice too

Thanks in advance!

I simply laid the pavement 2cm deeper in this area.

Hello,

we also considered having a recessed doormat installed in front of the entrance, but in the end we decided against it.

In the house where our "old" apartment was, we had such a recessed doormat both in front of and behind the door.

Actually a very fine thing - it only became a problem when the mats showed clear signs of deterioration after a few years and we as the homeowners' association then had to find out that the manufacturer no longer existed and no other manufacturer offered this size.

The size was not the problem, but the thickness of the mat.

We quickly stopped initial attempts with thinner or thicker mats after some residents tripped and subsequently took unplanned "excursions" into the greenery, which in turn drove our janitor up the wall because his beloved roses were "trashed"...

In the end, we were forced to have expensive custom-made mats produced to eliminate the tripping hazard.

For this reason, we have a completely normal doormat lying in front of the door.

Regards,

Dirk

Just like at our place – back then! Ugly, annoying, and underneath a home for spiders and all kinds of critters. There are such stylish doormats that I could buy a new one every year.

So you actually only have a completely normal doormat outside the front door? In winter then with an absorber? Or how do you get the snow and salt slush off your shoes in winter?

Outside, we definitely have a recessed one. But I think that's not enough, especially not in winter.

I also don't want guests to have to take off their shoes at the entrance first because they can't clean them well enough. We also don't always take off our shoes right away, so I would like to have a practical and stylish solution.

Putting a normal doormat inside the entrance area surely looks really stupid, doesn't it? At relatives' houses it's like this: when you come in, there's a mat with an absorber to the left of the door, and every guest has to wipe their feet on it first. It doesn't look stylish.

We have a recessed ACO doormat outside the door measuring 75 x 50 cm. Inside, there is a doormat measuring 150 x 90 cm. However, we remove these in winter, so you just have to mop the tiles regularly.
