Electric window opening as an alternative to a ventilation system?

That’s how it is – however, the whole thing was sold to him as a decentralized ventilation system. I am also curious about our central ventilation system – at the moment, I still can’t quite imagine not having to ventilate at all. However, when the time comes, I will really be glad about it. Last night again, due to the heavy thunderstorm with heavy rain and strong wind, we couldn’t open a single window in our attic apartment – that’s really no fun when it’s that muggy...

We are also curious and look forward to our decentralized system. Probably in summer we will still open the windows at night from time to time and turn off the system. We have even had fly screen blinds installed specifically for that. Last night heavy rain was forecast here as well at times. Therefore the skylights on the upper level of the apartment remained closed - so the heat that had built up upstairs couldn't dissipate. Luckily our balcony door is somewhat sheltered, so at least on the lower level we were able to let in cool night air. In the future, since we are building with two full floors, we will no longer have the annoying issue of heat buildup due to skylights that can’t be opened upstairs. Besides - that's what the ventilation system is for - in case of driving rain.

Somehow, our houses seem to be quite similar in terms of equipment.

For exactly this reason, we have equipped several windows with fly screen blinds from the start:

- one window in each of the two children's rooms

- the bedroom window

- the bathroom window

- the patio sliding door

- a kitchen window

Do you have these anti-buzz blinds on all windows?

Best regards,

Dirk

No, I am deliberately WITHOUT sound (I don't have to put up with that )

Now a different question. If it is humid outside, then the ventilation system also pulls in the moist air, right? At another point it is then pulled out again. A cycle.

If you turn off the system at night and ventilate with the window, then you can also ventilate all day with the windows.

So for me, the ventilation system has only two advantages so far: heat recovery and, in houses with high traffic noise, ventilation without noise pollution from outside.

We do not have noise and we are willing to bear the additional costs for energy. On the one hand, the additional costs for a ventilation system are eliminated (decentralized around €6,000, centralized certainly around €10,000) and on the other hand the maintenance costs for the system.

In this forum, only other builders and homeowners can share their experiences with you. The concerns about this system already raised by various forum members here do not seem to be relevant to you - therefore I would recommend having this window ventilation installed if you are convinced of it. The points mentioned in your last posting have already been discussed (sometimes multiple times) in the thread.
