The S0 meter provides, besides the "soft control," only the current household consumption and the total consumption in the household. In my opinion, the Sunny Home thing also needs such input. Together with the software from Fronius, the S0 meter thus delivers the household load profile (the blue line in the graphics above) and the old electricity consumption before photovoltaics. Without S0, only electricity production.

Of course, it can also be calculated that way, but this way it is easier.

SolarEdge also works wonderfully with S0 meter, by the way. And has the brilliant feature that you can see the individual modules and possibly detect defects.

The surcharge is not at all brilliant

Solar Edge becomes especially interesting when you want or have to accommodate different shading and/or 2 or 3 orientations/inclinations.

But the additional cost for these control units is not insignificant.

With us, SolarEdge was the cheapest offer of all. We didn't have to think about it for long..

The optimizers are of course a bit more expensive, but the inverters themselves are cheap. With us, even a large inverter was cheaper than a small one and that way we can “easily“ expand to >10 kWp in 1 year..

Sure, if SolarEdge is more expensive than a Fronius, you really have to consider whether you need these features.

The real advantage is only the monitoring. (But that is really cool)

You are also “dependent“ on that. Very few operators will have 3 orientations and the new inverters handle shading well anyway.

Well, the problem with shading is not the inverter, but the series connection in the string. If one module is shaded, it pulls down all the modules in the string.

And that's where Solar Edge is really nice. Especially with things like chimneys, satellite dishes, partial shading of individual modules, or something like that.
