Hello everyone,

We moved into our new house at the beginning of July. At the moment, we have our old wardrobe set up in our dressing room.

Now the question for the future is whether we should get another wardrobe or choose an open concept.

What are your experiences with clothes gathering dust?

The dressing room has a sliding door to the bedroom and an extraction connected to our central ventilation system.

Does this minimize dust accumulation or does it not matter at all whether there is a door and extraction?

Regards

Open doesn't work, everything gets dusty. Minimum curtains. But I myself tend towards the wardrobe.

I disagree with the dust gathering ... I would choose cabinets without doors. And if you then feel it does gather too much dust, you can put doors in front. Pax is suitable.

I mainly planned my dressing corner so that I now hang everything, T-shirts, blouses, etc. Only sweaters are still in corresponding drawers with lids. Pax had plastic bins with lids for that. Additionally, drawers for socks, underwear, and other small items.

In 30 to 40 cm depth, shelf space for bed linen and nightwear as well as sports gear, etc.

I would probably also start with cabinets without doors, and then see if it works or if it dusts too much. We have almost everything folded in drawers anyway (except shirts and suits, of course), so in my opinion it doesn't dust as much in there as on regular shelves. But as usual, it's a matter of taste.

We have an open concept. With the dusting.., yes, it happens. But in the closet it could also collect dust. So I don't see it as that bad, it doesn't get dusty within a few weeks, but rather over the course of a year. And after a year of not wearing it, you can consider whether you still need the garment at all. I enjoy the open option because I can see everything at a glance.

Tip: remove your closet doors, then you can see if it's something for you.

We are currently also planning our dressing room and are considering an open PAX variant. I am also thinking about no longer folding t-shirts but hanging them up. Does that require significantly more space than folding?
