Hello everyone,

I am currently building a bungalow without a basement through a developer. The drain pipes are causing me some headaches. I have a drain pipe in the bathroom on the outer edge and not directly under the shower or under the bathtub. The same problem exists in the kitchen. There is no drain pipe there and the wastewater is supposed to be led to the guest toilet ([dazwischen sind allerdings zwei Wände]). After consulting with the developer, this is quite normal. A good friend of mine said that the drain pipes are actually placed where the drain will be before pouring the floor slab.

Therefore, I have some concerns whether everything is correct. I would be very happy to receive feedback.

Best regards

Hi,

what does the drainage plan look like? It should be clearly evident from that.

With us, the drain pipes run under the floor slab, all drains were installed there before pouring, and the central drain pipe to the sewer, to which the other pipes are connected, has been led to the outer wall.

Best regards

Michael

Hello Michael,

that was a quick response. Thanks! For me, it looks like I have one drain pipe per bathroom. The pipes are also located on the exterior wall and run through the floor slab. The question is just whether it is normal to channel the wastewater from the shower, bathtub, sink, and toilet through this one pipe in the bathroom, or whether multiple drain pipes should have been installed. For example, the kitchen does not have a drain pipe and the pipe runs to the guest WC.

Best regards,
Britta

Hi Britta, ah sorry, then I misunderstood. We have a drain at every spot in each room where later a "device" will be that requires a wastewater connection. So, for example, in the guest WC two: one for the toilet and one for the washbasin. In the kitchen one for the washbasin and one where the wastewater from the bathroom will come down.

What the "state of the art" (one of my favorite words since we started building) is, how much wastewater can/may be combined into one pipe, etc., I unfortunately cannot answer for you. I could imagine that the kitchen and guest WC could become tight in terms of cross-section, especially if the dishwasher is draining in the kitchen, someone is washing by hand, and then someone in the guest WC has just done a big business and is washing hands. But no idea how to calculate that...

Best regards

Michael

hm... I just built: it is indeed the case that the district office also checks the drainage plan in the building permit and ultimately approves it. I wouldn’t worry about that. I don’t have our plan in mind anymore, but on the upper floor the pipes from the washbasin, shower, and toilet are also combined and discharged in one stack... It must all be correct.... but beware: layperson's opinion

Well, it could become problematic if the connections are too far apart. That is to say: You have to go from the kitchen to the WC. Your floor slab is finished - which means you only have the screed / insulation for the slope. There must be a slope from the kitchen to the drain so that the water does not stand in the pipe.
