The 3m width is usually sufficient for the parking space. The question of whether it is still accessible is not directly affected by the widening. Unless you really have to maneuver around the corner to get there. Then it naturally becomes difficult. 3m is fine just for the carport. For the cars in the garage, a widening obviously also does well. We have an interior dimension of 6.80m and that is very comfortable. Especially if you want to go through to the back with bicycles. My recommendation: go for it!

The quality and depth of possible advice have an incomparably different dimension when the questioners provide a holistic insight; quick snippets offer little basis and little "grip." I have been able to comfortably park and enter both a Ferrari 355 and an SL R230 as well as a W124 in 2.9 m wide single garages, though also with straight entry. I would find double garages with also straight entry sufficiently spacious at 5.5 m, however, I park in such pairs "69 style," meaning both cars with their passenger sides facing outward.

Note: When considering the required width, the vehicle width is only one factor, the position and length of the car door is another. I have, among others, a Smart Roadster, a really small car. The doors are long, the footwell is deep, the seating position is low – I have a lot of space before the door opens enough for me to get out. The 5 Series station wagon definitely needs less space to open the door than the small Roadster.

That's why I also mentioned two distinctly long-door cars as satisfied garage guests. The A124 also requires more space to get out than the W124.
