Does having a drainage channel on the terrace have disadvantages?

Hello

We have problems with infiltration in our garden.
During heavy rain, water stands on the surface and forms a pond

especially on the terrace where the largest amounts of water (rain + everything from the terrace) run onto the lawn and cannot infiltrate directly.

We have installed a drainage system, but the water still cannot infiltrate fast enough.

We are considering making a drainage channel at the end of the terrace so that only rainwater needs to infiltrate into the lawn and everything from the terrace flows into the drainage channel and drains into the drainage system.

The drainage system is connected to our soakaway.

The soakaway is too far from the terrace to create and maintain a continuous slope.

My question is: Does the drainage channel at the terrace have disadvantages or only advantages, so that the water can always flow away?

Well. In addition to the 100m² roof area of the house, plus 40m² garage, I'm roughly estimating this now without knowing "your" exact measurements, you now want to connect 40m² terrace to your [Rigole]. It will of course eventually reach its limits, especially with heavy rain in a short period of time. That's almost 200m², if only 10l of rain falls on that, you have to deal with 2m³ of water.

In the end, you will have to try it out. Even if you have precise knowledge of your property, your soil conditions, etc. I don't think it can be simulated with reasonable effort.

the soakaway at our place is very large and when it is full it has an overflow onto the street

If the slope of the garden soil were correct, then the surface water from the terrace would also flow over the lawn into the soakaway and only a small part would seep into the lawn, right?

Are there any other disadvantages against the drainage channel?

Quite a bit of dirt and debris could come through the soakaway via the drainage channel, right? but that can also be minimized with a sieve
