Why do you have the terrace at the living room and not at the utility room? This suggestion really misses the point when someone asks how to handle it most sensibly at the TERRACE DOOR.

You’re already wearing those mega ugly rubber shoes from the manufacturer Crocs and don’t even leave them outside? Why not?
Those things cost 20€ and thanks to their material they have no problem with water, as long as any rain even reaches their spot in front of the patio door.

Crocs don’t tolerate sun, they shrink then. So they like it shady.

Quick side question to understand the problem. Is it about "I go out to the terrace to work and walk in the dirt / fetch firewood around the corner" or about the normal use of the terrace, for example to sit outside, have breakfast or sunbathe? In the first case, put shoes on/off outside and then store them inside. Since this happens relatively rarely, I consider the time required for storing them acceptable and not annoying. In the latter case, I don't understand the problem. Either I am barefoot / in socks (our terraces are sufficiently clean) or the shoes stay on (rarely). How do you handle it when you have guests? All shoes off and left outside?

ruppsn, you got it. It’s really no problem. If there’s no back door with access to the utility room, just put on and take off dirty shoes outside and put them away. I don’t have to take off clean shoes. We always walk around the house with shoes on anyway.
