Is it just me or is 3.88 for this operation (!) not extremely respectable?

Is it just me or isn't 3.88 for this system (!) extremely respectable?

When I look at the gas consumption for heating over the past years, divide by 3.88 (7,500 kWh as an average) and multiply by the electricity price, I arrive at heating costs of exactly 40€ per month.
And that's for a 2014 house with 130 sqm WITHOUT underfloor heating.

That would currently be just under 250€ below the heating costs with gas and the additional option "air conditioning."

All calculated with current figures from Check24.

I had gas installments of 28€ for years, so yes, that can definitely be correct – energy has become more expensive in recent years.

In 2017-2018, my gas price per kWh was 4.74 cents
In 2022-2023, it is 16.51 cents
In 2023-2024, it will be 9,

For electricity, it looks like this:
2017-2018 22.91 cents
2022-2023 29.71 cents
2023-2024 26.60 cents

By the way, I always made sure to run two indoor units and not have the outdoor unit start for just one. Of course, only when it made sense. To optimize the COP as much as possible.

Anyone else thoughts or even ideas?

MY house has a „Wohnfläche“ of 112sqm, the data is based on that. It has gas + underfloor heating + 5sqm solar for hot water and since 2022 additionally an air-to-air heat pump.

I understood from #48 that you are asking for the real numbers for heat pump + underfloor heating as a comparison to your 130 sqm house with gas and without underfloor heating.

With your gas and electricity prices, you are thus (at 7,500 kWh gas = 1,933 kWh electricity at COP 3.88) at gas heating costs of about €728. If you heat with a heat pump (and then even "only" an air-to-air heat pump) and electricity, you would be at €515.

You (and others in the forum) can therefore take away that even a simple air conditioner can save money in newer houses (and from the end of the year, the air-to-air heat pump will be subsidized like a normal heat pump again). If you take poorer houses, it also works, but the electricity costs increase. With energy efficiency class F-G, heating is more expensive than with gas/oil, but that's only a snapshot – if the CO2 pricing comes as expected by the market, it will shift significantly.

What ideas do I have? Wait until the subsidy for the air-to-air heat pump comes and throw out the gas heating ;-)

What do you mean by the subsidy, I have already purchased an air-to-air heat pump. Here, 35% of the invoice has already been covered by subsidy funds. Meanwhile, you get less and have to measure the heat quantities as well as the network operator must be able to switch off...
