Hello everyone,
we are currently building a house. At the moment, our basement is being constructed. In our new development area, we have seen that the developers pour the terraces of their houses at the same time. We spoke to our basement builder about this. He said that it would not be a problem for him; he could do it right away, connected to the basement with stand foundations. Is a concrete terrace sensible for later wooden decking? Does it save costs and trouble?
[compared to the usual terrace construction with a gravel base layer and individual foundations]
On our property, we have a load-bearing gravel layer and about 50 cm of topsoil on top—which we could leave out at the terrace. Here we could also have it raised to a desired level. Would you recommend having the terrace concreted right away?
We have no slope on the property and an allowable terrace area of 5.50 * 2.50 m.
Regards Sebastian
