Especially now the photovoltaic modules should go on the roof. If the scaffolding is up anyway and panels are available for under €70, doing otherwise makes no sense. Inverter and storage then, when you have spare money.

It depends. Of course, scaffolding is an advantage, but it doesn’t cost much extra for a later installation. And yes, modules are cheap, but current electricity tariffs are low as well. And with a heat pump, you have a significantly higher overall consumption, thus an even lower operating price by a few cents per kWh. I recently compared for myself, and the payback period was 11 years. The ETF savings plan was cheaper in comparison.

There are naturally significant regional differences. You have to compare. But the option here to possibly save the photovoltaic acquisition costs at first should definitely be considered. If it still proves worthwhile, you keep it.

Do you mean heating electricity? In my region (Lower Rhine/Ruhr area) something like that hasn’t been worthwhile for 10 years, since the heat pump tariff is exactly the same as the normal tariff. Even at 10,000 kWh (that's how much I need because of the electric car) you won’t get a volume discount anytime soon. Payback of the photovoltaic system for me is after 6-7 years depending on consumption due to the electric car.

I suspect he means that you can take a higher tariff where the fixed charge is higher but the price per unit is cheaper. However, I don't think that really makes much of a difference on that scale.

Yes, that's what I meant, not the WP tariff. By the way, the basic fee is not necessarily higher then. And yes, it does make a noticeable difference. But it varies regionally. However, we shouldn't drift too much into the photovoltaics topic, as it's only a side issue here.

Since I received valuable tips here during our construction phase and for once can contribute something myself:

We started building in July 2023 and have only recently moved in.

136 sqm, gable roof, heat pump, photovoltaic system (no storage), double carport, patio roof, exterior area initially only fence + lawn.
Construction costs including incidental building costs (excluding land/real estate transfer tax): approx. €390,000

Standard equipment - no personal contribution.
