Cable internet with 1 GBit works great here for me and is cheaper than the fiber provider. The combination of Vodafone cable & Vodafone mobile contract also brings me a saving and an internet flat rate for mobile.

Ok, I only have broadband via cable, fiber optic is not developed here and not planned, and DSL only provides 6 Mbit (which in my opinion does not deserve the designation broadband). In this respect, I am dependent. But I always thought I would switch 100% to fiber optic when it is eventually offered. Vodafone is only moderately stable here as well. With us, 1 Gbit contract is just enough, but sometimes I only get 240 Mbit throughput.

55 EUR/month I actually find quite expensive. But well, if fiber optic is even more expensive, you have to think about it.
