Hello,
I am interested in a corner house, which is unfortunately unfavorably located on the property. The house is a corner house between 2 streets, let's call them Musterstraße and Mustergasse.

The current address is therefore Musterstraße 7.

The annoying thing is that the house is located at the very back of the property. So every visitor would first have to walk through the entire garden to get to the front door.

It would be much better if the entrance could be moved to Mustergasse.

From a construction standpoint, that would not be a problem, but how does it look legally if I would prefer to live on Mustergasse? Otherwise, no one would find the entrance if I have it moved but keep the old address on Musterstraße.

Best regards

The address will remain, upon request you might be able to have the access road to [Mustergasse] established. Of course, the municipality will charge for that. However, I don't see the problem. Hardly anyone with a pipe stem property or front garden worries about that.

The problem is precisely that I do not want everyone to have to walk through the long garden first when they want to ring my front doorbell. And not everyone wants to enter a property with several dogs.

I can understand that you don’t want that. Especially if you like to be alone in the garden, strangers who want something (e.g. Jehovah’s Witnesses) can be disturbing. In my opinion, unwanted visitors have no business on the property, and certainly not in the garden. Such a relocation of the front door, or rather the address, will probably not be easy to arrange. I could imagine that water/gas/sewage and other connections will play a role here or could be involved. What you could do, however, is install an additional "front door." That means properly fencing the property, putting up a hedge for privacy, and installing a good garden gate with an intercom system. If someone wants something, they stand in front of the property and you can decide whether to let them in or not. If you don’t want any view of the property at all, you can also add a privacy screen to the garden gate. So that after entering the garden gate, one still has to go around the corner. However, you still have the problem that, for example, the insurance broker has to walk through the dog area to discuss something with you. Awkward situation, just go to the municipality and ask what can be done and if there are any possibilities.

Then put the doorbell at the front on the garden fence.... Or put a pole at the property boundary with a doorbell on it. There are also wireless models.
