Control climate with underfloor heating or via the ventilation system?

Hello everyone,

we have been considering possibly installing an air conditioner to cool down the cabin during the hot temperatures in summer (nowadays there are always a good 2 to 3 weeks per year).

Has anyone installed an air conditioner and can report? Do you cool through the underfloor heating or through the ventilation system?

Best regards,

Merlin

You can't really cool with the underfloor heating, otherwise you'll have a dew point problem. Not really with the ventilation system either - you have to install a separate system with an air conditioning unit.

So, you can't use the ventilation ducts of the controlled residential ventilation to distribute cold air in the house? How is an air conditioning system installed today in a single-family home? Hopefully, it doesn't look like in a hotel room in Mallorca?

We currently have no cooling in the house at all. Our heat pump could "cool" in the summer (via the underfloor heating), but it only achieves about one to two degrees, and we refrain from using it due to the parquet flooring laid almost throughout the house (possibly condensation moisture). I know a family who simply had additional ducts installed next to the ventilation channels for the bedrooms. Now there's an air conditioning unit connected to it. It’s not noticeable in the rooms; there is just an additional opening in the ceilings.

We have installed air conditioning or are currently installing it – one unit in the living room, three in the respective bedrooms and children's rooms.

And yes, they are Malle units – although the devices look more elegant than bulky. I am still debating between high-gloss white and high-gloss black regarding the color.

Whether we really need air conditioning despite the rafter insulation and stone wool, I don't know – but I wasn't in the mood to regret it later.

Air conditioning through the floor is a supplementary thing, but it cannot replace air conditioning. Something has already been said about controlled residential ventilation – it’s either Malle style or monoblock units.

Thank you for your explanations. How much does something like this cost per device?
