That always depends on where you live. If I already have to pay at least 500,000 euros for 1000 sqm here (if I could even find anything), then you start to consider whether it could be less. A condominium is something completely different, then rather a smaller plot and your own house.

Two-family house. All in one house. 2 times semi-detached house: §1, everyone has their own.
If necessary, also easier to sell later. Karsten

A two-family house also usually means that you have neighbors above or below you. I find neighbors next door much more relaxed. Therefore, imo also: never ever ETW (then better a rental apartment!), on the other hand, I would have no problems with a terraced house in the middle.

Why actually? Doesn’t that mean that you usually live much more quietly in the second row, shielded from loud traffic and street dirt? Where is the disadvantage?

The original poster is asking about personal preferences!

Personally, I don’t like these pipe stems. I also only like side entrances with exceptions. I don’t like long corridors and driveways and therefore no long and narrow driveways – neither next to the house nor in front or on the side.

I like courtyards and house entrances that face the street.

And quiet street or not: I have peace and quiet in the second row at the cemetery. I will not have a house on a busy street, so noise and dirt can be disregarded.

Aha, I see. Matter of taste. That wouldn't bother me at all. On the contrary. We have such a pipe in the family and this house is much more attractive than the front houses because of the street in the big city.
