I would never want to live under one roof with relatives, nor have others above me. The other side of the house with strangers would be okay.
With a normal terraced house you have neighbors you can hear and possibly see. Been there, done that.
Now I have a detached house, can walk all around it, I see the neighbors (the hedge is not dense enough), I also hear them. By the way, 90% of my neighbors cannot walk around their detached houses. But I understand you.
My linked bungalow would be from the generous 60s...
Yes, I have thought about that part very thoroughly too, but as they say, a means to an end.
Separately accessible residential units, I think that’s okay until the property is paid off.
As an example, something we also looked at, but price-wise simply not worthwhile even though the properties were in top condition!
