Take an independent expert publicly appointed by the IHK. I think he was here 8 or 9 times. It cost about 3,500, maybe a few euros less. In my opinion, it is an investment in quality. Many craftsmen admit that work is done more properly and carefully when an expert comes. In addition, you have a competent contact person who works in your favor in case of questions or doubts. Who do you want to ask if something doesn't seem right to you? The craftsman who made the potential mistake?

The construction company regional solid builder was informed beforehand and the boss had told his workers that beforehand as well. We coordinated the timing of the inspections with the expert. Since we are absolute construction laymen, we were glad to have an expert/damage assessor on our side.

How do you get in touch with one or how do you have to proceed?

You google the expert directory IHK and enter "Bau" in the field for the desired specialist area and then select, for example, "Bauabnahme".

We were with the Verband Privater Bauherren - Verband privater Bauherren. There is a regional list of building experts. They take care of checking the contract and the appointments when commissioned. And in case you ask how to get in touch with the association: Google is your friend.

I can also warmly recommend a building savings contract. Our expert has partly clarified things even before the topic was brought to us. That was worth its weight in gold at the time because we just had a baby.

However, it can happen that there are delays because the expert and the general contractor or their subcontractors have differing opinions, and therefore a construction stop was imposed. For us, this was the case, for example, with the plasterers.
A construction stop was imposed on a client on our street because there was still too much residual moisture before the flooring work due to water damage. However, they had to move out of their apartment and were therefore not very happy about the expert’s decision.
