Hello everyone,
I am currently in a situation where I should remodel or extend my existing house (built in '80).
At the moment, I have a relatively large room in the basement (right by the garden behind the house), which is used as a laundry room. The plan now is to divide this room, with one half (about 2/3 of the room) becoming a new bathroom. Hot/cold water, wastewater, and heating are available, but no confirmation of feasibility from a professional has been obtained yet.
A new extension (about 4x3 meters, 1 door, 1 window + electrical work) is to be built, which will then be used as a laundry room. The ceiling of the extension is also the new balcony for the upper apartment. Additionally, a window is to be installed in the exterior wall of the existing room.
It may sound complicated, but it actually isn’t. Still, I am facing a large number of questions and cannot move forward.
What should be done first? A professional for sanitation to clarify the feasibility of the bathroom? Or should I consult an architect first, who will plan the extension? I would prefer not to have the bathroom planned by the architect due to the costs.
Maybe one of you can help me move forward. Implementation is planned within a period until mid-2014.
Thanks in advance, Benny
