Wow, I configured a window myself at Aluplast. 160 x 90, 2-leaf, a mere €557 for one. However, triple glazing. They don't offer double glazing anymore.

Double-winged is always damn expensive. At one of the shops (fensterversand) you can see during configuration which little click (e.g. the one on double-winged) drives the price up, as it changes in real time. Fixed glazing is best.... then the burglary protection is also right, if you don’t necessarily need to be able to open it. Tilt-and-turn costs a lot extra again. I once looked for the laundry room, which is only 7 sqm, and for ventilation it’s enough for me to leave the door (briefly) open while I’m inside. That might be worth considering.

I would now assess the laundry room differently, as there is air from drying, something could spill, etc. But basically I agree with you. We are planning with a ventilation system and will definitely adjust our window selection accordingly. However, this probably cannot be maintained in the upper floor, as a ladder access (second escape route) is needed and somehow the windows also have to be cleaned. A controlled residential ventilation system does not completely replace airing by opening windows.

hm well, at our place every hardware store has ready-made windows in standard sizes. Another alternative is to search for window shipping via Google. You can also find what you're looking for. Whether the windows are better or worse than those from the local carpenter, I don't know. I got my windows from the local window maker and didn't even get handles with them, plus water slot caps and hinge caps are missing and they were installed strangely too (they protrude 2 cm into the room instead of being at least flush with the reveal, and the old window sill was simply left in place, meaning the window was just put on top and done). So it's questionable whether the local expert is always better.

And you accepted that as is???
